Meet "The Help Desk Guy"
Mincy Pollock is not your typical candidate.
He's a proven leader in ILA 1408, known for turning ideas into action and problems into solutions.
From fighting for financial literacy and homeownership resources, to creating tech workshops and a weekly Payroll Help Desk, Mincy is already doing the job he’s running for.
His approach is inspired by union legends before him — but reimagined for today’s needs.
Mincy “Help Desk Guy” Pollock carries the values passed down from his grandmother, Sister Berdell Pollock — work hard, tell the truth, serve people with integrity.
Those lessons shape the way he shows up for members today: face-to-face, hands-on, and committed to fixing the problems that have held the union back. His vision for the Financial Secretary’s office builds on that foundation while honoring the spirit of leaders like Rev. Landon Williams, who believed in strengthening both the union and the community it supports.
For Mincy, the Financial Secretary shouldn’t be a passive bookkeeper. It should be an active, accurate, transparent support system for every member and every family in Local 1408. After years of preventable errors, penalties, and outdated processes, he is committed to bringing modern systems, clean data, timely communication, and accessible financial information back to the hall. Looking forward, he plans to expand non-traditional revenue, pursue appropriations, and reinvest resources into members — building an office that protects the union’s finances and strengthens its people, generation after generation.
